The staff and volunteers of Scott Rice Office Works in Kansas City did an amazing job of organizing Hoops to Help, their first annual fundraiser held at The Basketball Experience in the Sprint Center downtown. Seventeen teams signed up and competed at six different stations, from free throw shots to three-pointers to passing to broadcasting a game. Everybody had a great time. The proceeds from the teams' entry fees and a raffle and auction all go to GreenTown to further the Green Initiative. Greensburg's team of hot-shots featured Steve Hewitt (City Administrator), Darin Headrick (Superintendent of Schools), Randy Fulton (Greensburg High School Principal), Kim Alderfer (Recovery Coordinator), and Daniel Wallach & Catherine Hart (GreenTown staff). The team was cheered on by GreenTown Board Chair Wylan Fleener, staff members Alanna Goodman and Anita Hohl, and Erica Goodman. Our gracious and most patient manager, who took us from station to station and kept us in line, was volunteer Carl Madsen, who officiates NFL games when he's not selling office furniture. We are proud to report that Superintendent Headrick took home the prize (a bobbleheaded basketball figure) for the best men's score. We are deeply grateful to Deke and the entire staff at Scott Rice for their generosity and support for Greensburg. You can visit them on our "Partners and Sponsors" page and on the web here.
A special thank-you to the following Kansas City hotels who donated lodging to the Greensburg delegation: Hilton President Kansas City, Aladdin Holiday Inn, Kansas City Marriott Downtown, Intercontinental Hotel, Q Hotel and Spa, Sheraton Suites, and Raphael Hotel.
Steve Hewitt & Daniel Wallach were awarded a perfect score for their broadcast.
