Caroma is the Australian company that has already generously donated 200 dual-flush, water-saving toilets to Greensburg residents. The Manager of their North American operations, Derek Kirkpatrick, came for a visit April 22 (Earth Day), accompanied by the company's public relations representative, Jackie Burton. Almost as soon as he got got to town, Derek was so inspired by the Green Initiative that he decided to double the size of their donation! These 400 units are estimated to represent a water savings in excess of 10 MILLION gallons annually. (This is not a typo.) Derek gave several interviews while in town, and he and Jackie got to meet quite a few residents, business owners, and governmental officials. It was a wonderful day and we are so grateful to the two of them for making the journey - his office is in British Columbia, and Jackie is headquartered in New York.
It is gifts like these that really are putting Greensburg on the map as a model green community. GreenTown aims to continue to bring in resources such as these that can demonstrate to the world how much impact one small town can have.
