Some Great Sites for Green Tips

We at GreenTown subscribe to a lot of blogs and e-newsletters, and are always on the lookout for helpful tips we can share with readers and visitors. Here we pass along information for some of the best sources of information that we have found – so far.

THE KING OF GREEN: Gary Walker's alter ego is The King of Green. Based in Kansas City, he is the owner of Magic Touch Cleaning, a company dedicated to eco-friendly cleaning practices. Gary is passionate about taking care of the planet, and shares practical ideas on his blog and via a weekly radio show. You can view his daily green tips on his website or by friending him on Facebook. The radio program, co-hosted by Gary’s wife, Trish (The Queen of Green), is aired every Friday on KCXL.com from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. You can listen to it live or you can check out the archives on the King of Green’s site. They interview fascinating people from throughout the country on a wide range of topics.

MOM GOES GREEN: Mom Goes Green: A Mom’s Journey to Green Living is a blog written by a woman named Doreen, who is married with two school-aged children. She shares what she is learning related to making the world a healthier place. In her bio she says:

I’m not perfect. My life is far from being as green as I would like it to be. I make mistakes, and I’m trying to leave some selfish things behind (like those fabulous smelling laundry detergents!) but I’m trying…and I’m learning. I just want to leave this world knowing that I did all I could manage to do. I hope to teach my kids how to treat their planet, live better and choose products that are best for their own well-being . . .

Doreen blogs regularly and is not afraid to give her honest opinion about various products and practices.

WORKING MOM GOES GREEN: Working Mom Goes Green is a blog we recently discovered that has lots of practical hints for healthier living. Written by Shannon, the site features recipes, food preservation tips, product recommendations and more. Shannon says she is dedicated to taking a stand against yucky stuff in my food, cosmetics, etc. and gradually turning my family towards more eco-friendly, natural choices. I'm learning so this is about our journey towards going green.

GREENSBURG GREENTOWN: We at GreenTown frequently post tips on this website. You can search for tips we've shared over the past four years – or check out our extensive RESOURCES section in the drop-down menu, above.

Our aim is to make purchasing products, saving energy, and living in general easier and healthier. We’re all here to learn from each other, so if you have a suggestion for a website that would be of interest to the general public, please let us know at info (at) greensburggreentown.org. Many thanks!
