A Gift of CLEAN

The community of Greensburg has been gifted with a very generous donation. The OneCleanWorld Foundation has contributed 500 copies of the book Clean: The Humble Art of Zen-Cleansing by author and environmentalist Michael DeJong, which are being distributed through GreenTown to residents and local business owners.
The Foundation’s gift is timed to coincide with the upcoming weekend (April 30 - May 2) that marks the third anniversary of the tornado that changed everything in Greensburg. The town will be the scene of numerous events, grand openings, and dedications. GreenTown will host the Grand Opening of our Silo Eco-Home, and will distribute the Clean books from our Green Visitors Center inside the home. The Foundation is eager to participate in Greensburg’s third Anniversary Weekend activities, as they strongly support the town’s decision to rebuild as a green, eco-friendly and sustainable community. In their press release announcing the gift, they remark: “The OneCleanWorld Foundation and Michael DeJong commend the people of Greensburg, Kansas for their green industry, for their growing green economy, and for the mindful rebuilding of their basic infrastructures.”
In addition to the gift of books, Michael DeJong will be visiting Greensburg this summer to teach residents how to green-clean their homes and offices, so that they may remain free of the toxic chemicals prevalent in many commercial household cleaners. Michael's recipes for green cleaning rely exclusively on five natural ingredients: baking soda, salt, borax, vinegar, and lemons. His beautifully designed tome is user-friendly with easy-to-follow instructions and lots of encouragement and good cheer. Here's a sample tip from the BAKING SODA section:
“Add a quarter of a cup to a bucket of water to remove bugs and tree sap from the chrome, windshield glass, mud flaps, auto roof rack and auto-body paint on your car. It’s really effective as a scrub, too. Just apply a bit onto a rag or sponge to get the really nasty stuff up. Rinse with clean water. Try it on the vinyl seats inside, too.”
Clean: The Humble Art of Zen-Cleansing is one of three volumes penned by Michael, the other two being Clean Body: The Humble Art of Zen-Cleansing Yourself and Clean Cures: The Humble Art of Zen-Curing Yourself.
The OneCleanWorld Foundation has been established by Michael and partner Richard Haymes to support and raise awareness about eco- and sustainability projects in the U.S. and throughout the world. A portion of DeJong’s royalties from sales of his Clean series of books (printed by Sterling Publishing, Inc.) endows the Foundation. They are also looking for other donors to partner with them on this charitable effort.
We applaud the generosity and vision of Michael and Richard and the OneCleanWorld Foundation, and look forward to this summer’s green cleaning event in Greensburg!
