We are happy to report that the auction of our natural gas Honda was a resounding success. There were over 1,000 views of the vehicle during the ten days it was up on eBay. The winning bid of $15,100 came from a man from Huntington Beach, California, who lives three blocks from a natural gas fueling station.
There are several important people to thank who were instrumental in making this sale happen. First, Roger Scholfield, owner of Scholfield Honda in Wichita, donated this car to GreenTown in December 2007. During its tenure in Greensburg, we used it (gently) for tours and in local parades and events. The American Honda Motor Company donated a second natural gas vehicle to us this year, which we will continue to use for our GreenTours, and to educate visitors as an example of a clean-burning fuel technology. Entercom Communications, which has a presence in Wichita and 21 other markets, generously promoted the auction throughout the country; special thanks to Jeff Pickering and Jackie Wise for their support of our work. Check out Jeff's blog about all things green on 1 Thing Wichita. Thanks go to GreenTown's Mason Earles and John Wickland for their thorough handling of the details of the auction.
Keep an eye on our home page for news about our next auction. A generous donor from California gifted GreenTown with a variety of intriguing sports memorabilia items, including one of Michael Jordan's shoes, signed by the entire Chicago Bulls team.
