Green Book Review: "Greenspec Directory" & "Green Building Products"

Stumped about what type of insulation you should use in your upcoming project?

We've got you covered. Both "Greenspec Directory" and "Green Building Products" were put together by BuildingGreen, LLC, an independent publishing company committed to bringing their members accurate, unbiased, and timely green design information. The two books offer a wealth of knowledge for engaged homeowners who are concerned about sustainable building materials. At GreenTown, we use these books often to help guide interested residents towards more sustainable building options. For example, last week we received a call from a woman in town who was asking about metal roofing possibilities for her new home. We referenced "Green Building Products", explained the various options, and loaned her the book from our library for further study.

The 1,400 environmentally preferable products highlighted in the two books are grouped by function to allow for easy navigation (for example: windows, cabinets, drywall and appliances). Each chapter starts off with a discussion of key environmental considerations and what features one should look for in a green product. The chapter then continues with a list of product descriptions and manufacturer contact information.

The two books are available for check-out at the GreenTown office on Florida St. They are also available for purchase here.
