HomeGrown Art is Green

The 5.4.7 Arts Center, designed and built by Studio 804 from the University of Kansas, has become an invaluable asset to the Greensburg community. Completed in early May of 2008, this space has achieved the highest level of green building certification according to the United States Green Building Council, LEED Platinum. The building has played a vital role in the rebuilding process by not only providing residents with a place to meet, but by also attracting eco-tourists from across the nation.

The primary function of the center is to showcase regional artwork and to offer classes and space for Greensburg residents to create their own art. The current exhibit displays ceramic art created by Kansas State University students and faculty. Recently, the center began hosting Greensburg's HomeGrown Music Session on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month at 3:30pm.

While in Greensburg, we invite you to visit the 5.4.7 Arts center for a taste of our arts and music culture!

Also, look for an upcoming article outlining the green features of the building in more depth. In the meantime, check out its case study in the Greensburg Sustainable Building Database.
